5 Go-to Poses for Senior Photography

My goal through every senior session is to capture my seniors full of confidence and joy in a fresh and timeless way.

My biggest secret: conversation. I love how a senior’s personality shines through a photo after they’ve been sharing about their lives and what they love. Taking time throughout a session to listen to them and talk also reveals their natural body language and expressions which helps me take photos and pose them in a way that better depicts their personality. With poses that match who they are and not just the popular style of the season, seniors feel more relaxed, look more natural, and feel confident during the process and when looking back on these photos in the future.

Below are some of my favorite versatile base poses that I use almost every session with my senior and portrait clients. They’re all great starting points and easily tweaked to match the personality of each person photographed and the style of the session.

Sit them down.
